Teaching photography to children and adolescents is about teaching them how to observe and express themselves through images, encouraging them to observe without filters and with a critical eye.
Some parents understand that teaching visual culture and photographic expression is important for their children’s present and future. They are the ones who bring them.
Some young people love photography and understand that learning visual culture and photographic expression will help them become critical and fulfilled adults. They are the ones who come alone.
We have introduced them to Diane Arbus, Bleda y Rosa, Martine Franck, Barbara Traver, Vivian Maier, Elliot Erwitt, and many other photography artists. Yet, they have also amazed us with the authenticity of their own photography projects.
Teaching photography to young people sparks learning, reflection, and creativity. Thank you for participating in the Railowsky Special Photography Workshop for Youth.
