Travel is not just about changing places; it’s about allowing something within to shift.

Our trip to Japan was precisely that—a journey that opened up an inner world. We didn’t return the same. With each journey, something shifts in the way we see the world, the way we dress, the way we think, and the way we live in it. Every authentic journey reshapes our neural pathways, our behavior, and our rhythms. It has the power to make us more aware, more sensitive, and more present.

That’s why we created this training: to share what we have learned, to invite you to walk this journey with us, and to enjoy some of our experiences—without ever having to get on a plane. Through images, words, silences, and practices, we will journey not only through temples, streets, and gardens, but also through emotions, intuitions, and memories.

This symbolic and sensory journey will transport you to Japan…
But above all, it will invite you to journey within.

The common thread running through this symbolic journey is the teaching of the Five Elements (Godai 五大), a system of thought rooted in Japanese Buddhism and shaped by Hindu influence. These five elements—Void (空 Kū), Wind (風 Fū), Fire (火 Ka), Water (水 Sui), and Earth (地 Chi)—are more than natural forces: they embody fundamental aspects of the human experience: mind, emotion, will, transformation, and permanence.

On this journey, each city we visit will resonate with one of these elements. From that experience, we developed five modules that don’t just teach—they transform. Each module offers audio training, travel photos, photography exercises, mindfulness practices, writing prompts, inspiring artists, and music recommendations. This journey will take you through five stops.

Once you receive the content, you can enjoy the experience at your own pace—no need to follow a fixed schedule. Your journey will begin on October 14, 2025, with a new stop every two days—five in total, woven into your daily life. Each stop will take just 15 to 20 minutes a day to listen, read, and watch. You will decide when to access the content and create the suggested images.

Course Contents

Our Journey: From Void to Earth

Traditionally, the order of the Godai moves from Chi (Earth) to Kū (Void). In this course, however, we will begin with Kū and end with Chi—because that’s the path our journey took, and because we will start with what is most subtle to arrive at the present.

It will be a path of symbolic descent, moving from the immaterial to the corporeal—from intuition to the root.

  • 1. 空 Kū – Tokio: Light
    Our journey will begin with the Void (Kū), considered in the Buddhist tradition the subtlest and highest of the elements. It represents spirit, creativity, thought, and energy without form. Traditionally, the Void is placed at the end of the order of the elements, but here, we will set it at the beginning—because the Void is also the source of all things, the space from which form is born. Tokyo is a city that defies categories—filling and emptying at the same time. It is overflowing with stimuli, yet profoundly silent if you know where to look. At this stop, we will open our senses, let go of judgment, nurture a spontaneous way of seeing, and practice the art of presence.
  • 2. 風 Fū – Kanazawa: Wind
    From Tokyo, we will travel to Kanazawa, where we will meet the Wind (Fū). Wind is the element of movement, expansion, open-mindedness, and growth. When we visited Kanazawa—with its Zen gardens, tea houses, and harmony of tradition and modernity—the wind seemed to speak to us. Wind embodies change. It also embodies wisdom—for only when thought flows freely can we truly learn. At this stop, we will practice photography that is attentive to nuance, to the unseen, and to the whisper of things.
  • 3. 火 Ka – Takayama: Fire
    Our next destination is Takayama, a mountain city where tradition and warmth meet on every street.
    Here, fire lives in the scent of embers glowing in the ryokan, in the carpenters carving wood with patient hands, and in the passion of the festivals, where illuminated floats light up the night.In Takayama, we will feel Ka (): the element of fire, passion, drive, and intention.
    We will work with the deep motivation that drives us to create—the inner fire that ignites our gaze and propels us to explore and express ourselves. We will also explore the boundaries of excess, how we navigate desire, and how photography can serve as a channel for transformative energy.
  • 4. 水 Sui – Nikko: Water
    Then we will journey to Nikko, a place renowned for its waterfalls, temples, and sacred forests. There, we will connect with Sui (), the element of water—the fluid force that adapts and transforms. Water takes the shape of its container, just as our emotions, creativity, and stories do.
    At this stop, we will explore the art of adapting without losing our essence, of moving with what is present. Through photography, we will explore the concepts of reflection, flow, texture, and stillness. We will open ourselves to transformation, allowing the experience to move through us.
  • 5. 地 Chi – Kyoto: Earth
    Finally, we will arrive in Kyoto, a sacred and deeply symbolic city. Here, we will encounter Earth (Chi ), which represents permanence, stability, memory, and matter. In stone temples, along dirt roads, and within ancient rituals, we will feel the gentle weight of what is essential.Kyoto invites us to anchor the experience and to harvest the lessons we have learned. At this stop, we will reflect on bonds, cycles, and roots. We will also explore the body, presence, and the here and now. It will feel like returning home to ourselves, to who we are.

The Proposal

This course goes beyond being a travel guide or a photography manual. It is an invitation to self-knowledge. Each stop will offer you:

  • Haikus and reflective writings
  • Writing prompts
  • Evocative images from the journey itself

Across these five stops, you will develop a more attentive, serene, and authentic way of seeing the world. You will learn to look at the world and yourself with new eyes. Because, as the Zen sages say, it is not about how far you go; it is about how deeply you look.

About the Instructor

Amparo Muñoz Morellà

Psychologist, educator, and researcher in photography and personal development. Co-director of ANDANA and creator of this experience.

Communicator with over 20 years of experience in community intervention and social integration through artistic tools. Her work focuses on exploring photography as a strategy to boost creativity, foster self-knowledge, and improve emotional well-being.

Through specialized training in Mindfulness for Children and Adults and a Master’s Degree in Psychotherapy: Third-Generation Therapies, she has developed this innovative methodology that combines mindfulness and photography to foster introspection, authenticity, and personal transformation. Her work as a communicator extends through articles, courses, and masterclasses on the connection between psychology and the image.

In collaboration with Javier Sancho Boils, Amparo founded ANDANA, a project that combines photography and personal development. Since 2015, they have been leading workshops that use photography as a tool for personal and social development for various organizations and government entities.

What specific training and experience does the trainer have?

Amparo Muñoz Morellà (Catarroja, 1973) is a licensed psychologist (CV05104), educator, and researcher with over 25 years of professional experience in psychosocial care through Spain’s Primary Social Services.

Throughout her career, she has supported hundreds of people facing extreme vulnerability, social exclusion, life crises, and natural disasters—always integrating a humanistic, respectful, and person-centered approach into her work. Her approach combines evidence-based psychology with creativity, art, and a deep connection to personal values.

She specializes in Mindfulness and Contextual Psychotherapies. She completed the Advanced University Program in Mindfulness for Children and Adults, as well as a master’s degree in Psychotherapy: Third-Generation Therapies at the International University of La Rioja (UNIR). This training allowed her to deepen her knowledge of models such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and the integration of mindfulness into psychological, educational, and community support processes.

Since 2015, she has co-directed ANDANA—a pioneering initiative that brings together photography, psychology, and personal development. Through this platform, she has led workshops, courses, and conferences, as well as support processes for both individuals and professionals—including educators, social workers, and mental health practitioners. In her training programs, Amparo uses artistic tools—primarily photography—as a means of emotional expression, self-knowledge, stress regulation, and personal transformation.

Her methodology is experiential, creative, and accessible. She combines mindfulness exercises—such as conscious breathing, active listening, and embodied presence practices—with photography and writing prompts, allowing participants to look inward, reconnect with what truly matters, and develop self-care skills. Her workshops are designed to foster transformative experiences through conscious observation, contemplation, and visual storytelling—both individually and in group settings.

Amparo is currently conducting university research on the therapeutic benefits of using photography in processes of self-knowledge and emotional well-being. In her research project, titled Evaluating the Use of Photography as a Tool for Self-Knowledge and Well-Being within the Context of Third-Generation Therapies, she has designed, implemented, and evaluated a structured program that integrates mindfulness and photography practices. This research, grounded in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and mindfulness, uses internationally validated instruments to evaluate its impact.

Will my exercises be supervised?

The process of getting to know yourself is an intimate and individual journey. The exercises will accompany you and make it easier to temporarily focus on what you will explore. Getting to know yourself through photography is a deeply personal journey that requires autobiographical exploration and a sacred space that belongs solely to you. This space belongs exclusively to you; you will conduct the interpretations, embark on projects, and gain the insights essential to your journey.

This is a fun educational experience designed to help you get to know yourself better and deepen your personal development. Please note that ANDANAfoto does not offer therapeutic services.
