Immerse yourself in a unique experience that combines mindfulness and photography to help you develop a new way of looking at the world.

Start: August 26, 2025.

Format: Online Workshop

Second edition.

Workshop taught in English.

We live in a fast-paced world, where rushing has become the norm. From the moment we wake up, our minds jump from one task to another: work, family responsibilities, social media, commitments… Our attention is scattered, caught between to-do lists and notifications. Often, we may end the day feeling exhausted, like we haven’t had a single moment of real presence, and, worst of all, with the sense that we didn’t accomplish anything.

In the Photography and Mindfulness workshop, you’ll learn to slow down, connect with the present moment, and train your visual perception—free from judgment and expectations. Photography becomes a tool for active meditation, allowing you to explore reality from a deeper, more conscious gaze—without the pressure to capture the “perfect” image, but with the intention of fully experiencing the process.

I’ll be with you on this journey—from the basics of mindfulness to the creation of a meditative photography project. Each session includes guided contemplation exercises, photography practices that focus on conscious observation, and references to great artists who have worked from this perspective. You’ll explore how light, texture, emptiness, and rhythm can become key elements in developing a visual narrative grounded in mindfulness. You’ll also receive tools to reduce stress, boost concentration, and enjoy the act of looking.

Once you receive the content, you can enjoy the experience with complete freedom, without sticking to a fixed schedule. Starting August 26, 2025, you’ll receive content every Tuesday and Friday until September 26—audio training, inspiring artists, photography exercises, and recommended music—for a total of 10 pauses in your daily life. To listen to, read, and watch the content of each pause, you will need between 15 and 20 minutes per day. You are in control of deciding when to access the content and create the suggested images.

I invite you to embark on this experience with an open and curious mind, a game, a way of looking at things without any preconceptions, without accepting or rejecting anything. It’s about embracing a “beginner’s mind,” a Zen concept that invites us to see the world and our lives with curiosity and openness.

Do you dare to explore photography as a way to feel and get to know yourself—and to find a pause? If the answer is yes, welcome to this journey.

FAQs

What does the course syllabus include?

This course is designed as an experiential and progressive journey that integrates mindfulness practices with guided photography exercises in an innovative way. Its purpose is to foster a more attentive, reflective, and conscious perspective—one that allows participants to deepen both their perceptual and personal experiences.

The journey is structured around 10 themed pauses, each designed as a space for exploration—to pause, cultivate presence, and connect more deeply with the environment and with oneself.

As a complement, participants are invited to complete a voluntary self-assessment at the beginning and end of the course, using a scientifically validated tool that allows them to observe—both objectively and reflectively—the development of their mindfulness throughout the training process.

The 10 Pauses included in this training

Pause 1. Photography & Mindfulness

This practice begins with the essentials: learning to look from the present moment. Photography is introduced as a tool to break free from automatic habits and engage in a more direct, open, and mindful way of observing the environment.

Pause 2. Looking With New Eyes

We don’t always see things as they are—we see them as we believe them to be. Participants are invited to work on unlearning their automatic gaze and to cultivate a renewed, judgment-free way of looking at the world. This pause invites you to train your perception and rediscover everyday life with a fresher, more authentic perspective.

Pause 3. Breathing

Breathing is incorporated as both an anchor and a tool for self-regulation. Together, we will explore how its rhythm can be woven into our photography practice to cultivate calm, presence, and heightened visual sensitivity.

Pause 4. Sensation and Emotion

The camera can serve as an emotional mirror. We will explore the connection between inner experience and visual perception. Through photography, we will observe how emotions and bodily sensations shape what we see—and how we can use photography to witness them with curiosity and without attachment.

Pause 5. Light and Shadow

Light and shadow are more than just visual elements—they are metaphors for our inner world. We will explore contrasts, recognizing their aesthetic, emotional, and personal dimensions.

Pause 6. Silence

There is power in visual silence. The focus shifts toward stillness, emptiness, and pause—as both compositional and attitudinal elements. We will work on the ability to create meaningful images from negative space, valuing emptiness as fertile ground for meaning, calm, and contemplation.

Pause 7. Rhythm and Movement

We will explore the flow of both the environment and the body while photographing, as well as the relationship between internal rhythm, the perception of change, and techniques that help express movement and how it unfolds.

Pause 8. Looking Inward

This is an invitation to turn the camera toward yourself—to explore identity without masks, cultivating sincerity and presence as essential elements of the inner self-portrait.

Pause 9. Contemplative Storytelling

Images can tell stories, too. In this pause, we give meaning to the gaze by creating visual sequences that reflect emotions, moments, or inner processes. The image becomes both poetic and a form of visual language.

Pause 10. Final Project: Your Mindful Photography Journal

A closing pause that brings everything together. In this final encounter, everything we’ve learned comes together through the creation of a personal collection of images. This visual diary serves both as a synthesis of the process and as a testament to the development of a more mindful gaze.

Each of these pauses is an invitation to look more slowly, to pause, and to feel. It’s not just about photography and mindfulness but about cultivating a way of being fully present in the world—with greater awareness, sensitivity, and connection. This journey isn’t about perfect results; it’s about authentic discoveries.

In this course, you will learn to slow down, observe without judgment, and transform your camera into a tool for active meditation. It’s not about capturing the “right” image but about fully experiencing the act of seeing.

I invite you to begin this experience with open and curious eyes, as if you were seeing the world for the very first time. Set aside expectations and surrender to wonder—to pause, and to fully enter that moment that only arises when you are truly present.

Do you dare to explore photography as a way to feel, to get to know yourself, and to find your pause?

If your answer is yes—then welcome to the journey.

What specific training and experience does the trainer have?

Amparo Muñoz Morellà (Catarroja, 1973) is a licensed psychologist (CV05104), educator, and researcher with over 25 years of professional experience in psychosocial care through Spain’s Primary Social Services.

Throughout her career, she has supported hundreds of people facing extreme vulnerability, social exclusion, life crises, and natural disasters—always integrating a humanistic, respectful, and person-centered approach into her work. Her approach combines evidence-based psychology with creativity, art, and a deep connection to personal values.

She specializes in Mindfulness and Contextual Psychotherapies. She completed the Advanced University Program in Mindfulness for Children and Adults, as well as a master’s degree in Psychotherapy: Third-Generation Therapies at the International University of La Rioja (UNIR). This training allowed her to deepen her knowledge of models such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and the integration of mindfulness into psychological, educational, and community support processes.

Since 2015, she has co-directed ANDANA—a pioneering initiative that brings together photography, psychology, and personal development. Through this platform, she has led workshops, courses, and conferences, as well as support processes for both individuals and professionals—including educators, social workers, and mental health practitioners. In her training programs, Amparo uses artistic tools—primarily photography—as a means of emotional expression, self-knowledge, stress regulation, and personal transformation.

Her methodology is experiential, creative, and accessible. She combines mindfulness exercises—such as conscious breathing, active listening, and embodied presence practices—with photography and writing prompts, allowing participants to look inward, reconnect with what truly matters, and develop self-care skills. Her workshops are designed to foster transformative experiences through conscious observation, contemplation, and visual storytelling—both individually and in group settings.

Amparo is currently conducting university research on the therapeutic benefits of using photography in processes of self-knowledge and emotional well-being. In her research project, titled Evaluating the Use of Photography as a Tool for Self-Knowledge and Well-Being within the Context of Third-Generation Therapies, she has designed, implemented, and evaluated a structured program that integrates mindfulness and photography practices. This research, grounded in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and mindfulness, uses internationally validated instruments to evaluate its impact.

In addition to her work as a psychologist and trainer, Amparo is the author of several books exploring the educational, emotional, and creative value of photography—including Photography to Grow: A Practical Guide for Teaching Photography to Children and Adolescents, Discover Photography: Look, Enjoy, and Create from Childhood, You Are What You Look At, and Photography to Get to Know Yourself. Origin. These publications are intended for both curious individuals and professionals, offering a unique perspective on photography—not as a technical skill but as a tool for personal exploration, emotional development, and transformation.

Amparo has trained teaching teams, therapists, social workers, youth facilitators, and cultural professionals in the use of photography and mindfulness as tools for intervention. She has also worked with adolescents and older adults in community, intergenerational, and recovery processes aimed at restoring well-being after experiences of adversity.

Her work is marked by sensitivity, closeness, professional rigor, and a deep confidence in the transformative power of the gaze. Participants in her training programs often highlight the warmth of her guidance, her ability to create safe and welcoming environments, and her skill in making complex concepts accessible through real-life experiences.
